Polyester
A type of thermoset resin used in the manufacture of GRP products. The principal advantage of polyester is a fast cure time and very good chemical resistance in many acidic environments. Polyesters are produced by dissolving unsaturated, generally liner, alkyd resins in a vinyl-type active monomer such as styrene. The resins are usually furnished in solution form, but powered solids are also available.
