Overview
The Blainville Aquatic Centre, located in Blainville, Québec, is home to a selection of indoor swimming and leisure pools which allow the city to offer a variety of aquatic activities, and host community events.
Problem
The steel structures and staircase, providing access to the upper diving platforms, were condemned due to degradation caused by severe corrosion.
The city required a slip resistant solution that could also withstand the corrosive effects of chlorinated water and not demand on-going maintenance.
Solution
Fibergrate FRP products are specifically engineered to withstand corrosive conditions, provide durability and allow for little or no maintenance over its long life-cycle.
For the safety of aquatic centre users, Aqua Grate® Pultruded Grating, a non-slip and corrosion resistant grating, was installed to replace the rusted steel, allowing for optimum comfort under bare feet - a must in high traffic public recreational areas. Fibergrate’s Dynarail® modular handrail system was also integrated on each side of the walkways and platforms for additional safety.
The access platforms are supported by Fibergrate’s Dynaform® Structural Shapes, which offer a unique combination of corrosion resistance, high strength, dimensional stability and are light weight.
